The world of Engineering and Technology is at the cusp of renaissance with the science. The traditional educational system is evolving at an exponential pace due to tremendous backing of Research and Innovation. The multidisciplinary problem solving skill of Engineers and scientists together with the advances in computational resources is helping mankind to break all the barriers and fear of venturing into unknown.

With different branches of Science and Technology merging seamlessly into newer streams, the scope of engineering has increased many folds. Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is the discipline that traditionally covers streams such as earthquake Engineering, architectural engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, geophysics, control engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, municipal or urban engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, offshore engineering, coastal engineering, quantity surveying, geodesy, surveying and construction engineering etc.

At VGIET our programs in civil engineering prepare students to become working professional civil engineerS and academic researchers who study civil engineering problems.

The Course

Department runs B.Tech. Program which is a four-year course oriented undergraduate program. For this the course work is spread across all the 8 semesters. These courses are taught here towards the fulfillment of the degree requirements and include a set of core subjects which are prescribed by the RTU university syllabus as well offers some departmental electives and open electives. In addition, the programme curriculum includes 60 days of industrial Training after VI semester and student’s take-up projects in batches from the seventh semester to finally complete it in their eight semesters.

Opportunities

First year of civil engineering course remains dedicated to teach students basic engineering techniques such as engineering mathematics, physics, chemistry and engineering drawing etc. From second year of undergraduate studies, students start to learn about core Civil engineering subjects. Following are those various opportunities that student could gain from this programme

  • Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science and Engineering in solving Civil Engineering problems.
  • Comprehend, conceptualize, identify components of complex Civil Engineering problems and formulate their configuration to realize the intended benefits and objectives.
  • Analyze and design of various components of the system using appropriate tools, techniques and technologies with standard norms and codal provision.
  • Develop optimal solutions by considering alternative scenarios with considerations of adequate safety, socio-economic development, and cultural preservation, improvement in public health and hygiene and environmental sustainability.
  • To estimate quantities of construction materials, carry rate analysis and to prepare cost estimate, tender document on standard proforma with contractual obligation.
  • Apply construction technology and management tools in project implementation with proper monitoring with modern tools to achieve timely execution considering social, legal, environmental, safety and other pertinent issues.
  • Monitor structural health, periodic repair and maintenance and rehabilitation measures when needed- using appropriate techniques. Inculcate professional ethics, social responsibilities and life learning process to keep pace with emerging needs and evolving technologies and their applications in real world problems.
  • Develop team work, leadership, skill to write reports, design documentation & makes effective presentation

Computer Science Engineering

The Department is affiliated to Rajasthan Technical University and offers Under-Graduate program.The CSE Department practices the Outcome Based Education (OBE) approach for teaching-learning process. This is a learning-centric approach rather than traditional teaching-centric approach to education. This approach focuses on the attributes the students should possess after the completion of the programme through the following key questions:

  • At the end of the course, what should a student be able to do?
  • How can the faculty and staff help the student in gaining this ability?
  • How will we measure if the students have gained this ability?
  • How to involve all the stakeholders’ viz. students, faculty, alumni, employers, industry, parents and society, for continuous improvement of the programme?

Electrical Engineering

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering is an AICTE approved & RTU affiliated Graduation program in spread over eight semesters. This program is exclusively designed to meet the constantly evolving Electrical industry requirements. The fact that industries are accepting EE students into their company is testimony to the quality of program and its credentials.The department has grown not only in terms of student and faculty strength, but also in improving the laboratory facilities for the teaching and research purposes. Thus, the department has dedicated and state of the art teaching / research laboratories. The department is recognized for excellence in research, teaching and service to the profession.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of Engineering. It is also known as ‘mother’ branch of engineering. It is most fundamental field of engineering. It is the branch of engineering that involves the design, production, and operation of machinery. Mechanical engineering is the branch that applies the physics, principles of engineering and materials science for the manufacturing, analysis, design and maintenance of mechanical systems.

Mechanical engineers design machines and mechanical systems, engines, motor vehicles, aircraft, satellites, power plants, building energy systems, manufacturing systems, robots, control systems, medical equipment, and consumer products. This field encompasses a very broad range of subject areas including fluids, controls, design, materials, machines, structures, energy and manufacturing, and biomedical engineering. They are involved in the production of metals, molded metals, alloys and advanced materials, manufactured goods and computer components, machine tools and industrial supplies. Their products are as diverse as a computer disk drive, an automobile, an aircraft engine or an artificial heart or kidney. All the courses are in Mechanical Engineering based on pure Mathematics and logic of Physics (laws, theorems logics and concepts).
